Recycle Runway
Join us for the Recycle Runway Fashion Show. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 are invited to use their creativity to turn recycled materials into fashion statements – all outfits must be created from recycled or reused materials. Individual and group entries will be accepted. Participants will be grouped into three categories for judging, and each entrant will be asked to complete a card listing the materials used, designer and model (if different from the designer). On the day of the event, models will also be asked to sign a photo release form; parental consent will be required if the model is under the age of 18.

Project Runway
In a unique recycling initiative, Waste Management
hosted the popular cable TV show Project Runway
by opening a recycling collection center to the
designers. The show's contestants were put to the
ultimate challenge of designing an outfit using
recyclable materials. Winning designer Laura
Bennett, who created this dress from peanut sacks,
achieved a design that looks like it could hang on
the racks at a high-end store.
One of the winning dresses from the competition will be on display at the Recycle Runway Show at Neshaminy Mall on March 13, 2010.
Waste Management's commitment to sustainability
includes tripling the amount of recyclables we
manage each year to more than 20 million tons in
2020. Our community outreach programs on the
importance of recycling are just one way we are
working toward that goal with local communities.
